Holy cow, what a fall semester it has been!
I truly apologize for the lack of posts, I overestimated the amount of time I could dedicate to certain projects and wanted to give myself grace while acclimating to this new phase of life.
Guys, college is amazing. Amazingly stressful at times, but amazing nonetheless. God has provided me with a wonderful environment full of people and opportunities. Let me share some of them with you!
Rushing Sororities and Joining Phi Mu
Before school even started, I went through formal recruitment for Fall 2019. After an emotionally draining 8-day rushing process, I ended up exactly where I was supposed to be! I am thoroughly grateful for the community of women I have met and how my motivation to be involved in college has skyrocketed. From socials and date nights, to chapter and even just hanging out during lunchtime, the feeling of community has never left my side since. I met my perfect phamily, and have grown close to so many powerful and amazing girls.
Joining Campus Organizations
As soon as I knew I was going to UF, I immediately searched for organizations that I connected to. One of them that stood out was Her Campus, the number one college women’s magazine. From there, I was able to write feature stories for the UFL chapter, and gained attention from multiple articles. I plan on showcasing some of those written articles on the blog, but for now, click here for a view on this past semester’s work! It’s another organization fueled by girl power and diversity, and I look forward to resuming content creation next semester as the assistant to the media director.
Working with Brands
My social media engagement and opportunities skyrocketed over the past few months. I gained my first social media campaign with Victoria’s Secret PINK, which entails showcasing their apparel every month depending on their desired category. From there, I have worked with Simple Health, BootayBag, and I am looking forward to hearing from more brands in this coming year! I love gaining experiences like these because not only am I working and creating content for brands I truly support, but I gain experience with marketing, advertising, and building a brand of my own.
Football Games
Something about having your own team to cheer for makes the fall semester a lot sweeter. We had a truly great season overall, winning most of our games and earning ourselves a bowl game! Standing in the crowd with my sisters cheering on the Gators is the epitome of a Saturday.
Academically, it’s been an interesting ride. Due to me coming in with my Associate’s degree, I was already set up to take the upper level courses. This led to me having to quickly acclimate to the way a big university runs its classes and let me tell you, I was not prepared for it. Although the end result of semester grades wasn’t my best, I assured myself that I did what I could while getting used to college and the changes that were occurring in my life.
I am truly excited (and nervous) to what this new semester will bring; new projects are in the works and I couldn’t be happier! I look forward to updating you all when the time comes, and until then, expect fun little posts here and there.
all my love!
